Common questions

Where is my data stored? Can I sync between devices?

Everything is stored locally on your iPhone. There is no account and no server, which is why nobody — including the developer — can see what you spend. The trade-off is that there is no sync between devices yet, and deleting the app deletes your entries. Use Settings → Export CSV before removing or replacing a phone.

How do I get my data out?

Settings → Export CSV. That produces a standard CSV you can open in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets, and share anywhere via the iOS share sheet.

Why did the amount come out wrong?

Digits are whole currency units, so typing 1 then 0 gives 10, not 0.10. Use the “.” key for cents: 4, “.”, 5 gives 4.50. You can also tap any digit in the amount to move the cursor and correct it in place.

Why do my categories keep reordering?

The Add screen puts your most-used categories first, based on the previous month. The order is frozen for the whole month and refreshes on the first launch of a new one, so it never shuffles under your fingers mid-month.

Can I change a category’s colour or icon?

Settings → swipe a category → Edit. You get a full colour picker and an icon gallery.

How do I record income?

On the Add screen, switch the selector at the top from Expense to Income. The monthly total on Transactions and Insights is a signed net, so a month where you spent more than you earned shows as a negative figure.

Ads and privacy choices

Sundry shows one banner at the bottom of Insights and one at the bottom of Transactions, after the content. There is never an ad on the entry screen, never one between your transactions, and no full-screen ads.

On first launch iOS asks whether the app may track you for ads. Allow it and the banners can be more relevant; decline and they aren’t personalised with your advertising identifier. Your expenses are never part of it. Change your mind any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked for consent under EU law first, and the tracking question only follows if you consent. That choice lives in Settings → Privacy options.

Found a bug, or want a feature?

Email or Telegram above. Recurring transactions and iCloud sync are the two most likely additions.
